About Danu

In Celtic mythology, Danu is the goddess of nature.

Danu Research & Communications is a consultancy committed to environmental and social justice. We work with clients from around the world - UN agencies, NGOs, academics and activists - providing research and communications services to support their projects.

Driven by a deep sense of purpose and integrity, Danu aims to inform policy and inspire action as we navigate the challenges of ecological degradation and global inequality, supporting those on a similar mission.

Meet Jane, the founder of Danu:

Dr Jane K Feeney is a researcher and communications consultant with 15 years of experience in research, writing, copyediting and content production.

Hailing from Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast, Jane has lived in the UK, Spain, India and Colombia and is currently based in Galway City. She earned a PhD in Geography from Trinity College Dublin, an MA in Environment, Development & Policy from the University of Sussex and a BA in International Marketing & Languages from Dublin City University.

Over the course of a decade, Jane worked in communications agencies in London and Barcelona for clients across the private and development sectors and spent a year volunteering with an NGO in India. She has also worked as a freelance copyeditor and writer for women activists and human rights NGOs. Fascinated by the messy relationships between humans and nature, Jane embarked on a PhD examining the policy and practice of environmental offsetting in Colombia, combining political ecology and peace and conflict studies.

In 2022, not long after graduating with her PhD, Jane decided to put her communications and newly minted research skills to work - as a full-time independent consultant. She is truly happy spending her days working for social and ecological change and collaborating remotely with people across the world - from Bogotá to Istanbul to Nairobi. Jane loves coffee, yoga, hiking and seeking out the oldest cinema in town.
