Offsetting Biodiversity: Insights from Colombia and Recommendations

As biodiversity offset and no net loss policies expand worldwide, what are the local level implications in different contexts?

This brief outlines the results of research into the policy and practice of offsetting in Colombia, which involved document and policy analysis, interviews with key stakeholders and a case study of offsets implemented in a national park in the Department of Santander. It provides seven recommendations for policy makers and practitioners involved in offsetting and biodiversity conservation in Colombia and beyond.
